Undefeated no more

Where were you at this past Saturday night?I am sure you were out and about enjoying your night off, however if you are a UFC fan then you were at home or bar watching UFC 193 pay per view, which the main even bout was no other than Ronda Rousey VS Holly Holms. Even if your not a fan you were thinking Rousey would win. Here comes the shocker…. she didn’t.

She headed into this match with a perfect record 12-0 not only was her streak on the line but so was her title, a title that she held for three years. In those three she gain world wide fame and fortune. Even if your not a true UFC fan, you know who she is. Her streak was a thing of beauty, however we know that all good things come to an end.

Rousey last few fights lasted a total of 90 seconds, yes three fights and combine 90 seconds. None of those three fights made it to the second round. THis fight however did and that’s when she saw her streak come to an end in the form of a knock out kick that was just nasty. The kick gave her a concussion, she was taken to the hospital directly after the fight to receive treatment.

Holms was the underdog, at least Vegas thought so, but truly she was anything but a undergo. Holms was 10-0 going into this fight but her overall MMA record was 32-2-3. She was Rousey’s toughest opponent in young MMA career. Do the math Holms has nearly twice as many matches than Rousey. Underdog? i think not.

Could Rousey have won? I think so, she far too talented and has both the awards and medals, even the title for three years to her resume. Here is what went wrong. Holms was smart she scouted, she knew Rousey style was aggressive and she needed to use that to her advantage and it paid off in the end when she found the opening to give the knockout kick.

I believe Rousey defeated herself in the process, she was clearly more talented but her ego of the fame went to her head and she didn’t take opponent seriously, now we see if Rousey is a true great fighter because once she recovers , she needs to train harder and learn from her mistakes for rematch, yes there will be rematch , I would think sometime in July who knows we might even get a third match if Rousey wins her rematch.

I think Rousey will comeback smarter and stronger which made be a bad thing for Holms, she isn’t at her peak just yet, That’s the crazy part but for now we will have to see if when this rival will start back up again.

Spectre: Movie review

Sometimes you just can’t top yourself and that seems to be the case here,before I get started on my review, I must warn you that this will contain spoilers, if spoilers bother you than please read this at another time.

Skyfall to date seems in my eyes to be the best James Bond film out of the entire film series. A lot of the critics thought so and the fans also agreed, the movie made slightly over a billion dollars, the first James Bond film to do so. With Bringing back pretty much from Skyfall, you would think you could repeat. However repeating is so hard to do.

Here in this film, we have Bond on a mission that ties into the events that happen at the end of the previous film, this was only truly the beginning then Bond learns about this underground terrorist group called Spectre which is led by a guy that Bond grew up with, after his parents died. The main villain seeking revenge for Bond taking his father love away from him and reveal that he has been the source of his pain, revealing the events from the previous films which ties up any loose ends, which I liked. In the end Bond steps away from his normal self of shoot first, ask questions later and even falls in love, the movie ends with Bond choosing to be with his woman and possibly retiring as 007 or so we are led to believe at least. Let’s remember that Daniel Craig is signed on to do one more film.

Sadly i feel this film didn’t live up to Skyfall, the action wasn’t there in the sense of nothing stood out for example in Skyfall you the subway crashing through the tunnel, that scene stood out to me. I get it though Bond is much older but when you have Dave Batista as an evil henchmen you have to add a lot more action in this make, they failed at that and not to mention they didn’t give him many lines, Batista can act.. When you go away from the action the plot needs to be thicker which it wasn’t, nothing honestly came as a surprise. The chemistry  between the co-stars just wasn’t there which you could see in Skyfall, these may not seem like they would hurt a film but normally they do and numbers are showing that which i will get into in just a few seconds.

With bad there does come some good and here is what they got right. Bond in love, I like this because he now getting older and his fast life style needed to go away, less nudity, for once, which we didn’t need for this film because Bond is now older and needs to focus on being with someone he cares about. Humor, this film truly added to Bond Humor which we didn’t see much before .

News broke that this film needed to get to 650 million dollars form everyone to get break even, i have to say that is a crazy amount of money to try and get to, yes Skyfall made over a billion but it took nearly four months to get to. The opening numbers were down by nearly 18 million and to date still nealry 30 million behind Skyfall and the scary part is Spectre has to battle with Hunger games Mocking Jay part 2 and Star Wars in the next few weeks, reaching Skyfall maybe more difficult than  they previous thought.

Where do they go from here? Craig still have a film left to do and there are plenty of Bond stories left to be told, However its never too early to look ahead of that. recently Ellen talk to Craig about there being a female Bond. This could work Bond could have a daughter or reboot the character all together, the question here would be would the fans support such a change in their beloved character. We will see in the near future. In the end i give Spectre 3 stars out of 5, its not bad but it could be better.

Harry Potter and The Cursed Child

Finally we have learned what the 8th part of Harry Potter will be about. Since J.K. Rowling announced that she was doing a prequel,fans of the series got excited, they thought she back to writing a new book in the series but than she announced that it would in a form of a play. At this point I feel that the fans including myself were let down because not only is it a play but also will only be in London, at least for now.

When she did announce that this was a prequel, I was confused because there was truly nothing going on in Harry’s life from the time his parents died and until he found out he was a wizard, so why make it a prequel? I know she is a brilliant writer, so i knew she would rethink this idea and sure enough she rethought about it and just recently announced that this story would take place 19 years after THE DEATHLY HALLOWS.

Here is what we know so far about the plot because this is what she gave us. “IT was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic. a husband and father of three. While Harry grapples with the past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus mus struggle withe weight of the family legacy that he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth. darkness comes from unexpected places”.

Could Harry go to the dark side? or will his son join the dark side? Two very good questions, the fans could be wondering. Honestly, I can see both questions being answered and here’s why. Every since Harry found out he was a wizard he has had a nag for adventure and honestly after he’s greatest adventure what has Harry done since? This thought alone could drive him away from the famous Harry Potter that we came to love. The fame alone could have gone to his head to make him change. Now as for his son. He could want to create his own legacy instead of being compared to his father which is a big legacy to live up. So he may branch out to start his own regardless if it is good or bad.

I really hope J.K. Rowling turns this into a book because I would love to read an I won’t be able to see the play, i guess we will have to wait and see when the play opens in the summer of next year .
