AEW All Out Predictions

By: Justin Hopkins

They just had to add another match to an already stacked card. I can’t even complain that much, cause of course I will gladly take a Ruby Soho match. With that said, lets skip the small chat and jump right to it shall we.

Eddie Kingston vs Tomohiro Ishii

Oh what brutal fun this should be. A rematch that should be an excellent watch and that I believe that Eddie should get the win for.

Winner – Eddie Kingston

FTW Championship – Cool Hand Angelo Parker vs Hook (Champion)

This feud has been fantastic, but that isn’t really surprising due to who is involved. Hook aint losing and we still have the Daddy Magic fight to get to.

Winner and still FTW Champion – Hook

AEW All Atlantic Championship – Kip Sabian vs Pac (Champion)

This one is quite difficult to pick from. Pac could maintain. Still early in his reign, but I think it is more important that Kip gets the win here. Been waiting with a box on his head for around a year. This could be the first step in something much bigger for him.

Winner and new All Atlantic Championship – Kip Sabian

AAA World Mixed Tag Team Championship – Ruby Soho and Ortiz vs Tay Melo and Sammy Guevara (Champion)

Ruby and Ortiz… Serious, refuse to pick against Ruby.

Winner and new AAA Mixed Tag Team Champions Ruby Soho and Ortiz

House of Black vs Darby Allin, Sting, and Miro

Normally, would be a bad move to go against Sting, but Story wise, Miro can blame them for the loss and continue the story more if his team losses here and continue to build toward the single match against Black.

Winners – House of Black

Ricky Starks vs Powerhouse Hobbs

I can see a non finish happening here. A DQ or time limit draw. Something to build the heat and keep the feud going to a lights out match. For the sake of picking one of them though. Can see Powerhouse getting the win while Ricky putting in a valiant effort.

Winner – Powerhouse Hobbs

Christian vs Jungle Boy

Speaking of lights out potential. This feud had been devastatingly brutal with the war of the words between them. They got it set up perfectly for Luchasaurs to break bad and turn against Jungle Boy.

Winner – Christian

Wardlow and FTR vs Jay Lethal and Motor City Machine Guns

I am really excited for this match. I have always heard about how good Motor City Machine Guns are, but have never actually seen any of their matches before. With FTR on a run of a lifetime this year and Wardlow added to it and I am all here for it.

Winners – Wardlow and FTR

Bryan Danielson Vs Chris Jericho

This should be a fun match. All for the love of Daniel Garcia, but got to go with the American Dragon for the win.

Winner – Bryan Danielson

Casino Ladder Match – Claudio Castagnoli vs Rey Fenix vs Rush Vs Penta El Zero Miedo Dante Martin vs Andrade El Idolo vs Wheeler Yuta vs TBA

This is going to be carnage and I have no idea. None what so ever. TBA could be anyone from Darius to MJF and Eddie Kingston is right there. Perfect to set the main event at Grandslam and how can I pick against Claudio…Fuck it….

Winner – Eddie Kingston

TBS Women’s Championship – Athena vs Jade Cargill (Champion)

So, I am in two mindsets here. Athena poses as a serious threat to Jade’s undefeated streak. Could easily take that belt off Jade and gives Jade the lane to move up the the Women’s Championship. You could keep Jade undefeated, but since Tony is being a Jackass when it comes to giving women more time on the two shows to build more threats, who knows how long it will take to get another threat.

AEW Trios Titles – The Elite vs The Dark Order and Hangman Adam Page

You know what, I am going to take a risky pick here. The Dark Order deserves more love then they have been getting here, and you can tell the story that Kenny just couldn’t shake the ring rust and while I am going about this as if Adam Cole would be ready by Grandslam, it would be a great ammunition for him to use against Kenny to set up the match.

Winners- The Dark Order and Hangman Adam Page

Interim AEW Women’s Championship – Toni Storm vs Jaime Hayter vs Hikaru Shida vs Dr. Britt Baker

This match can teardown the show. Can make a case for any of these four to walk away with the belt. While Toni seems to be the favorite, going to go with Jaime. Think this could be huge for Jaime and can set up a massive feud between her and the Doctor for the gold and if she wins that. You got yourself an even bigger star.

Winner and new Women’s Champion – Jaime Hayter

AEW Championship Match – CM Punk vs Jon Mox (Champion)

Keep saying it and eventually going to be right, right? CM Punk heel turn, off the back of Cleveland booing him when he thought he had reinjured his foot. Only question is if he can pull off the impossible. Austin couldn’t pull off a heel turn in his hometown. Can CM Punk turn heel in Chicago. While still walking away with the belt.

Winner and new AEW Champion – CM Punk

As always, I hope you enjoyed and….

AEW Revolution 2022 Predictions

By: Justin Hopkins

AEW PPV are always hard to try and predict, for the best of reasons. You can make an argument on nearly every match on who should walk away with the win. While at the same time. A spicy story waiting the one who doesn’t at the same time. Revolution is staked with blood feuds, match of the year candidates and overall fun matches on paper. Stifled with potential from top to bottom. So, lets pull out the tin foil hats and try and predict the show shall we.

Hook vs QT Marshall

We will start with the softball choice here. Hook is the man. Riding a wave of momentum that isn’t stopping now.

Winner – Hook

Kings of the Black Throne vs Death Triangle and Erick Redbeard

The reason this didn’t go up yesterday. Had a feeling they weren’t done and they gave us this six man. With the return of Erick Redbeard to sub for the injured Fenix and glad to see him. This will be a fun match on the Buy In and while it could go to Death Triangle and Redbeard. House of Black need it much more.

Winner- Kings of the Black Throne

Leyla Hirsch vs Kris Statlander

Well, easy choices gone now. Kris took the first match, which is what kicked off this rivalry and sent Leyla to the dark side. Both of these two are incredible and could be top of the division in no time. Could have Leyla win to lead to a more brutal rubber match. Kris is teasing showing another side of her. With the orphan comment could be teasing a double turn, but Leyla just turned…. More words to try and stall. Can’t even go with my heart cause I love them both… Screw it..

Winner – Leyla Hirsch

Andrade El Idolo, Isiah Kassidy and Matt Hardy vs Sting Darby Allin and Sammy Guevara

Before Rampage. Believed it was going to be a slam dunk. Win for the good guys and set the table for the Hardy Boy reunion. Now I am not to sure though. They could have Matt Hardy wonder off. Doing the erratic thing still. Make it appear it’ll go the way you think. For Darby and Sammy clash from what happened on Rampage. I am going to go for that actually.

Winner- Andrade El Idolo, Isiah Kassidy and Matt Hardy

Eddie Kingston vs Chris Jericho

There is a universe, where Eddie loses this match. Sending him into a bit of a spiral. Having to regroup and think about what he wants. Finding his motivation and coming back and going on a tear to the belt. Getting the emotional moment of winning the Championship. In this world, Eddie is winning this one, and starting the momentum to the Championship now.

Winner- Eddie Kingston

TBS Championship Match – Tay Conti Vs Jade Cargill (Champion)

While Tay could make for a good choice in giving Jade her first loss. It might be too soon. Jade has continued to improve by leaps and bounds and really making this run just what this belt needs. Not quite the time to pull the plug on it.

Winner and still TBS Champion – Jade Cargill

Face of the Revolution Ladder Match – Keith Lee vs Wardlow vs Ricky Starks vs Will Hobbs vs Orange Cassidy vs Christian Cage

Sweet Death how am I suppose to choose. Match is just going to be awesome. Some much destruction. People are going to be launched left and right. Can never sleep on Orange. Hobbs can make a break at any moment. Twenty Twenty Two can be the year of Starks, Christian is a legend, and how can one not bask in the glory of Keith Lee. Keith Lee is a difficult choice to go against, but We got Wardlow. The wave of momentum is really starting to pick up and story of him and MJF is simmering. Match is going to be insane, but at the end of the day, going with….

Winner – Wardlow

AEW Tag Team Championship Triple Threat Match – reDRagon vs Young Bucks vs Jurassic Express (Champions)

It is coming due for a heel team to collect the tag team belts. That won’t be tonight thought. the reDRagon Young Buck story doesn’t need the belts. Think they are going to cost themselves the match and the belts stay where they are.

Winner – Jurassic Express

Bryan Danielson vs Jon Moxley

Hey, another match that I have no idea where it can go. Think the American Dragon is going to get the win after a hard fought battle. Setting up not just the team, but the fallout later and Mox finally getting the win he has never had after a long drawn out story.

Winner – Bryan Danielson

AEW Women’s Championship – Thunder Rosa vs Dr. Britt Baker (Champion)

This story can go in so many ways. I genuinely have no idea which way they can go. Going to go the way that sets up a rematch at St. Patrick’s Day Slam the easiest and most interesting.

Winner and new Women’s Champion – Thunder Rosa

CM Punk vs MJF Dog Collar Match

What a fucking feud. The promos and interactions have been nothing short of legendary that will be looked back on in, how to set up feuds, for years to come. It doesn’t feel right to go against him, but an MJF loss would send him spiraling against Wardlow and Punk could move on. Tired of the distractions and wanting his title shot.

Winner – CM Punk

AEW Heavyweight Championship Adam Cole vs Hangman Adam Page

I refuse to make the obvious joke. This match has it’s work cut out for it, to follow everything we have seen this far, but if anyone can do it. Think these two can. Don’t see Hangman’s time come to an end just yet and Cole can take his first loss.

Winner – Hangman Adam Page

As always, I hope you enjoyed and….

Top ten wrestling matches of 2021

By: Justin Hopkins

It is that time of year, where we sit back and recollect on the past. Thinking about the excellent movies, shows we got to experience over the past 12 month. Which we will soon be getting to, but lets kick the countdowns off right, with the best wrestling matches of the year, and was it no easy feet. In some cases, felt like there was a new candidate nearly every week, especially where a certain Bryan Danielson was involved. Who threatened to take over the entire list by himself. Now, this list will contain matches from AEW, NXT, and WWE, because those were the three I followed most. I promise I will change that next year, cause I just know the like of Impact, NJPW, and so many others put on bangers as well. Just need to make the time to check them out. With that said lets jump right in with…

HONORABLE MENTION

Christian Cage Vs Kenny Omega Impact Championship

This is a compromise to myself. How much I wanted to put this on my top ten list, because I was there for it. Had a fantastic time and this match was so good. Didn’t think for a moment Christian was walking away with the victory either. Figured no way they would have an Impact title change on AEW, but was wrong in the best of ways.

10. Pac vs Orange Cassidy vs Kenny Omega AEW Heavyweight Championship Double or Nothing

At some point, going to stop rolling my eyes when Triple Threat Matches are announced. I am proven wrong nearly every time, and this match blew away every expectations. Three completely personalities and styles and they knocked it out of the park. Knew that Kenny wasn’t losing that belt, but they sucked me in and made a believer that both Pac and Orange had a chance, and that moment where Pac had Orange locked in the Brutalizer and Kenny is kicking him but Pac is laughing off the blows. Forcing a Panicked Omega to take out the Ref to save the match will live on in my head forever.

9. Bianca Belair Vs Sasha Banks Smackdown Women’s Championship Wrestlemania Night 1

For the moment alone, this would have made the list. Two of the best going in WWE today, in Bianca and Sasha. Two of the most deserving women, who have worked so hard to be where they are. Such a feel good moment to see them bath in the Crowd reaction to them Main Event Night 1 of Mania. Then they had a stellar match. Cementing this is the place of history and with Mania going to two nights. will hopefully open the door to more women’s matches in the Main Event Slot.

8. Pete Dunne vs Finn Baylor XXT Championship Vengeance Day

As someone who really likes slow build technical based matches, these two guys ticked all of the boxes. Finn can go against anyone and make something magical and Pete Dunne is fantastic when it comes to working over his opponents, Together they made something magical and I hope Dunne finally gets that belt in 2022.

7. MJF vs Darby Allin Full Gear

I knew this match was going to be good going in, but was not ready for just how good it turned out to be. They opened the show and could make the argument that they had the match of the night. Highlighting both of their strengths and brought out the best in one another. Looking forward to see what happens next, in what I am sure will be a storied rivalry between the two and I am willing to be next time will involve a championship.

6. CM Punk vs Eddie Kingston Full Gear

Now this is how a blood feud is done. Two guys who don’t like each other and wanted to fight. Punk didn’t do his normal routine on the ramp. Eddie starting things off with the spinning back fist and they just went from there. Flipping each other off and went at it till Punk hit the final blow, but even in defeat, Kingston felt so important cause on another night. Could swing his way and with how Kingston’s year went. Think that might be sooner then later.

5. Bryan Danielson vs Kenny Omega Grand slam

This is a match I have been looking forward to, even when this was a pipe dream. Would talk about this with Co-Workers who would wish I would talk about anything else, and was thrilled to see that we were not only getting it, but weren’t wasting time. The match was everything that I wanted. Even knowing they would probably run the time limit draw, was still so entranced by everything they did, and the way they ended it. Suggested this is just an appetizer for things to come.

4. Bryan Danielson vs Hangman Adam Page AEW Heavyweight Championship Winter Is Coming

From a time limit draw we saw coming to one we did not. We get this gem from deep into the year. They had set the match up perfectly going in and Bryan almost toying with Hangman as the match went on. Proving more and more that he is less human and more actual wrestling machine. From someone who never yells at the tv, when it was under a ,minute, I was out of my seat yelling for Hangman to get up. Part 2 can’t get here soon enough.

3. IIja Dragunov vs WALTER NXT U.K Championship NXT Takeover 36

The best match WWE put on this year, was easily, Dragunov vs WALTER 2. These two guys went out there and beat each other like a bongo drum. WALTER being the prominent monster for 800 plus days and IIja being a smaller guy, but refused to being defeated on this day. Returning fire with everything that he got and getting the win by submission felt like a massive feather in the cap for him.

2. Thunder Rosa vs Dr. Britt Baker Unsanctioned Lights Out St. Patrick’s Day Slam

For me, this was monumental. Sure other places have let the Women’s Wrestlers go like this, but I had never seen it. Let alone on National Television like this. They made it feel like a big deal and solidified that Lights out matches will be brutal no matter who will be in them, and Baker and Rosa set the bar incredibly high. The match complimented the rivalry, paving the way for the two of them to go tooth and nail against one another and in the end. Both walked away bigger stars for it and was so close to being my match of the year.

1.Bryan Danielson vs Minoru Suzuki on a buy in for a Rampage on freakin YouTube!

Let that sit in for a moment. This was a dream match on YouTube. A counter to what WWE was trying to do to them. No one would have faulted them for going half speed and taking it easy. Nope, they beat each other within an inch of their lives. So, many moments they went toe to toe, throwing punches and kicks and every time was more exciting then the last. Concern every time Bryan hit the ground like a safe and felt like he only got 9the win, cause for a single moment. Was able to outsmart the murder grandpa. I don’t normally share matches with my non-wrestling friends. Last time was Shield vs Wyatt Family. I shared this one though. They treated a free match on YouTube like it was a Main Event of a Big PPV and will love it forever.

As always, I hope you enjoyed and….

Fantasy Booking the next 4 AEW Heavyweight, Women’s, TNT, TBS and Tag Team Champions

By: Justin Hopkins

So, I have had this idea bumbling about my head since Tony Khan made the comment about knowing who his first 4 Champions were going to be. Now, how true that might be now, is anyone guess, but it is the end of the year. Before we get to the slew of best of this and that posts and videos. Lets have a bit of fun throw away blog and do a bit of fantasy bookings. One important thing I must point out. There is a slew of potential new signings coming in over the next few months and while I will be stretching a bit, but there is one group I am leaving out, and that is the Ring Of Honor group. Now, I know, their is some incredible talent in the group, Johnathon Gresham, Briscoe Brothers, Danhauen, Max The Impaler and so many others could easily make the list, but I have seen so little of ROH and only catch glimpses here and there, so not comfortable booking things I don’t know. So, apologies for leaving them out. Now, lets jump in shall.

TBS Championship

  1. Ruby Soho – The newest belt and the tournament is still going on. The story is right there in a way. Having to go through stronger wrestlers in Statlander, Nyla and finally Jade to get the Championship. Her first major title of her career. A feel good moment to start the new year and can’t ask for more.
  2. Dr. Britt Baker – The former women’s champion who looks down on the fact that she has the TBS Belt, but staunchly defends it because she can’t live without gold. It is a hard story to pull off without the title looking bad, but Britt could make it work.
  3. Jaime Hayter – Whether it be the break up of the group or Jaime working her way back to her former stable leader. Jaime is so talented and this could be the win to highlight a stellar 2022.
  4. Ryo Mizunami – Okay, so this one may be a bit of a stretch. So, many who could take the belt, but Ryo has been doing some great work and her matches are always fun and would like to see her with some gold. Even if it’s not a long run.

Tag Team Championship

  1. FTR – Yeah, but the Tag belts are one of the hardest to predict and want a full powered Pinnacle to face off a reformed Elite. So, them going on a long run just makes the most sense.
  2. Dante Martin and either Lio Rush/Darius Martin – I don’t know when Darius will be back, but this pick is more about getting some gold on Dante. Who is so good and Tag belts are a good first belt for a kid who will have so much more gold in his future.
  3. 2.0 – Yeah, just fun goofballs, who can get some major heat off this, but really, just a transition to….
  4. Proud and Powerful – I almost feel bad for putting it off them this long. Would have no problem with them beating Lucha Bros. or FTR, but when they do finally win the belts. Going to be a great moment.

TNT Championship

  1. Shawn Spears – I love the idea of Shawn and Sammy being eternal rivals. Careers defined by sticking it to one another and trading wins and titles back and forth, in banger matches. Him taking the strap off Sammy would just be another chapter in the story.
  2. Wardlow – That break up of Pinnacle and will test Wardlow the ability to run as a Babyface and carry a title at the same time.
  3. Malachi Black – At the moment, he doesn’t need a belt, but that will change and some gold can help push him further.
  4. Lee Moriarty – By the time we get to this point. Plenty of time to build Lee up and even writing this, could easily move him up the list, but he has such a long future ahead and no reason to rush.

Women’s Championship

  1. Thunder Rosa – This is the only easy pick. The Women’s division needs more time to show off how good it is, but Thunder Rosa winning the belt is just a matter of time.
  2. Serena Deeb – She is just so good. An intimidating heel that spends months twisting babyfaces into pretzels while everyone hates her.
  3. Kris Statlander – The world needs our alien leader, after all.
  4. Leyla Hirsch – While I almost put her on the TBS title side, Leyla is just so good in the ring that I moved her over here. The babyface version of Serena and you know what. Can probably make being a heel work for her.

Heavyweight Championship

  1. MJF – Cause it just makes sense. Biggest heel taking down their ultimate good guy.
  2. Miro – He doesn’t have to be a good guy. He’s the Redeemer who destroys everyone in his path and can make for an excellent champion.
  3. Eddie Kingston – A stellar moment to be had. To see Eddie hold the belt, even if it is only one time. Need to see Eddie have his moment as the man.
  4. Kevin Stein – Is there any man better at stepping on moments and dreams that Owens/Stein. Destroying Kingston the way he did Zayn. Would be so good.

This was such a blast to write and so hard to try and put together. Have such a deep roster. Could easily flip in names like Powerhouse Hobbs, Tay Conti, any of the Dark Order. Not to mention who all they will bring in, but boy is it an exciting time.

As always, I hope you enjoyed and….

AEW Full Gear 2021 Predictions

By: Justin Hopkins

My hype for this Paper View has been steadily growing every week. From some excellent matches being made and some promos adding fuel to each of them. A stacked card with some match of the year candidates and a two plus year story of Hangman Adam Page. They have set the stage for Full Gear and I have no idea on several of these matches, but I am going to try my best to put on the booker hat and see f I can predict who walks away with the W. Lets dive in shall we.

Inner Circle vs American Top Team and Ethan Page and Scorpio Sky

So, lets get this one out of the way. I don’t really care to much about this rivalry. Built on cringe promos and would have seen a TNT Championship match. Although am a little excited to see what Junior Dos Santos can do in the ring. Really, just can’t wait for this one to end. Expect Inner Circle to get the last laugh over Lambert to close it out.

Winners – Inner Circle

Christian Cage and Jurassic Express vs Superkliq Falls Count Anywhere

Have we seen Jurassic Express vs The Kliq one too many times? Probably. Am I still excited? Absolutely. They have got so much great chemistry and with the addition of Falls Count Anywhere adds so much potential that they will take full advantage of and I have no real idea who walks away, cause they can really go anyway here, but going to work along the lies of, bad night for The Elite. Just hope this is the last time we see these two teams collide for a little bit.

Winners – Christian Cage and Jurassic Express

Darby Allin vs MJF

Oh the promos have been so nasty from MJF and I love it so much. These two really are two have such a bright future ahead of them and can be a rivalry that carries on for years to come and sure the AEW Heavyweight Championship will be involved down the line. Maybe down the line, the hero walks away victorious, but not on this day.

Winner – MJF

CM Punk vs Eddie Kingston

We knew the promo work between the two of them would have been incredible and they have not only not let us down, but blew it out of the water and made something incredible. The promo they had on Rampage was wonderful and made this a must watch. These two are going to make even more magic in the ring and could make the argument that may be the most anticipated match of the night by the time Saturday gets here. While I would love to see Eddie win this one, think we are saving Punk’s first lost for someone else.

Winner – CM Punk

Bryan Danielson Vs Miro

Before I get into this. I want to give a massive shout to Jon Moxley. From us at SmashWriting we send our support and love his way as he recovers from his addiction and gets healthy.

Miro has been a highlight of AEW this year. From his matches and especially, his promo videos, and now he is on the verge of full out war with his god it has some how gotten even better. Then you got Bryan Danielson. Who seems bent on taking up an entire top ten matches of the year list on his own. These two are going to put on a clinic that could go anyway, but I fear if I don’t pick Miro he will find me.

Winner – Miro

AEW Tag Team Championship Match – FTR vs Lucha Brothers (Champions)

This match is just going to rule. Two of the top Tag Teams in the world. Masters of different styles that blend so well together off the back of the talent of all four of them. With FTR beating them for the AAA Tag Team Championships though and we are still a bit too early into the tag run. Think the Champs are taking this one.

Winner and still Champions – Lucha Brothers

AEW Women’s Championship – Tay Conti vs Dr. Britt Baker (Champion)

So, the build up hasn’t been the best, but not taking anything away from these two women. Going to go out their and put on a clinic. Tay is going to look super strong, but don’t see the D.M.D train ending anytime soon.

AEW Heavyweight Championship Match – Hangman Adam Page vs Kenny Omega (Champion)

The feeling around this match is incredible. Telling the two plus year story of Hangman. Way he came out wanting that belt and the emotional toll it took when he failed. The story of friendship, rock bottom and finding new friends who helped him believe in himself again. I have reviewed movies that didn’t brother to have this much depth and emotion that this story arc has brought us and a reminder of why I love wrestling. At the end of the match, can’t see how Hangman doesn’t get his hand raised at the end, but the real prediction is…will he kick out of the One Winged angel and… I think he does.

Winner and new champion – Hangman Adam Page

As always, I hope you enjoyed and….

AEW Revolution 2021 Predictions

By: Justin Hopkins

So, I am kind of surprised it took this long to do a proper prediction for AEW. If push come to shove, may be a bigger fan of AEW than WWE at times and have just dragged my feet on doing one of these, but that changes now, with Revolution this weekend, and some massive matches set and a huge signing to be announced. Lets dive in and see if I can try and predict what may go down at Revolution.

Buy-In Pre Show Tag Team Match – Doctor Britt Baker and Rebel vs Riho and Thunder Rosa

It is kind of a surprise to see this match on a Pre-Show, but it has a feel of must need to see, which is exciting for a Pre-Show. Rosa and Britt in a pretty lengthy feud. That has only seen one match between them that ended with Britt cheating her way to get the win over her. There is some question about whether or not Rebel will even be involved in the match due to injury and Britt may be picking a new partner, but either way, I am picking Rosa and Riho for the win to set up a rubber match between Rosa and Britt down the road.

Winner – Riho and Thunder Rosa

Casino Tag Team Battle Royal Winner gets a Tag Team Title Match – PAC and Rey Fenix vs Bear Country vs The Varsity Blondes vs Alan Angels and 10 vs Stu Grayson and Evil Uno vs John Silver and Alex Reynolds vs Cezar Bononi and Peter Avalon vs Pride and Powerful vs Mike and Matt Sydal vs The Butcher and The Blade vs SCU vs Private Party vs The Gunn Club vs Natural Nightmares Dustin Rhodes and QT Marshall vs Jungle Express

So, same may think that they do too many Battle Royals, but I am not there yet. I love a good Battle Royal and there are so many teams that I want to win this. Would be great to see The Dark Order get a title match. Fenix and PAC are fantastic and with a pick I am going to make later, they could easily start the wheels going on Death Triangle getting all the gold, but I think it is going to Pride and Powerful which will set the stage for the separation of Inner Circle.

Winner – Pride and Powerful

AEW Tag Team Championship – Chris Jericho and MJF vs The Young Bucks ( Champions)

This should be a fun and heated match-up and I am sensing a title change. Think the stage is being set for a title change to set up the split of The Inner Circle. MJF and Jericho getting the belt to transition to Proud and Powerful. While the Young Bucks go on to start toward an Impact Tag Team Title Match against Gallows and Anderson. Although wouldn’t be to broken up if the Young Bucks keep the belts for a bit longer.

Winners and New Tag Team Champions – Chris Jericho and MJF

Face Of The Revolution Ladder Match – Cody Rhodes vs Scorpio Sky vs Penta El Zero Miedo vs Lance Archer vs Max Caster vs TBA

I have nearly convinced myself that this could be Lance Archer. He has been on a massive push as of late and been closing the show a lot as of late. The match of Archer vs Darby would be fantastic that could go either way. You got Scorpio Sky playing a little more of a heel this past week though and that would be great to see some fresh blood getting the win. Max Caster has a feel of a genuine underdog feel here and when his rap on everyone should be epic, and Cody could always win this and we didn’t even talk about the mystery entry and I have no clue who that could be, but as far as my pick goes, it doesn’t really matter, because I am going with Penta. He is amazing and I am more then ready for him to get the win here, beat Darby and take the belt to Death Triangle.

Winner – Penta El Zero Miedo

Miro and Kip Sabian vs Orange Cassidy and Chuck Taylor

I have been enjoying this feud in general and will be a nice break from all the carnage that is on this show. I believe that Orange and Chuck are going to get the win over Kip making a mistake which will send Miro over the edge and destroy Kip to start his solo run.

Winners – Orange Cassidy and Chuck Taylor

AEW Women’s Championship Match – Ryo Mizunami vs Hikaru Shida (Champion)

Coming off the wildly fun and surprising Women’s Tournament. Which I loved nearly every minute of it. Really getting to see some more of their women’s wrestlers going out their and knocking it out of the park. While Ryo was not my picking going in (That would be Leyla Hirsch. I think she is awesome and want to see her just tie up everyone into knots.) Ryo is going to be my pick in this match. Can have really open up to some fresher feuds and breath some new life back into the Women’s Division and hope That AEW keeps pushing them even more following.

Winner and new Women’s Champion – Ryo Mizunami

Hangman Adam Page vs Matt Hardy

This has been a fun rivalry and love the fact they have money riding on the match. Nice change of pace to add to this rivalry. Adds a bit of flair that we don’t see anymore. Think Page is going to win and get justice for the attacks on The Dark Order and BTE after this. See him and The Dark Order, Partying with Matt’s money is going to be wild.

Winner – Hangman Adam Page

Street Fight Brian Cage and Ricky Starks vs Darby Allen and Sting

I am happy that Sting is going to be able to get a match that he is proud of. After his less than stellar WWE run, but I am going to be glad when this is over. It’s been a bit overdone, but this could be great for everyone involved, especially Darby and that is what matters. Not a chance Sting loses.

Winners- Darby Allen and Sting

AEW Championship Exploding Barbed Wire Deathmatch – Jon Moxley vs Kenny Omega (Champion)

I don’t even know what to say about this match. Barbed wire ropes, that are armed with explosive. Platforms around three sides with more barbed wire and explosives. A thirty minute countdown and at the end of the countdown, all the explosives detonate. This feud has been a long time brewing and with unsanctioned match already done. Can see why they would want to elevate the stakes, but wow did they ever do that. It is an insane match to bring back into the fold and may be too much but I think they can pull this off. It’s Omega and Mox. Two insane guys who want to go out there and put on the best performance that they can and even with this stipulation, think they can go out there and make it work. Winner will be Omega so Mox can go be a Dad.

Winner and still champion – Kenny Omega

As always, I hope you enjoyed and….

Thank You For Reading.

Heels and Faces

By: Justin Hopkins

Stories are all about heroes doing battle with heinous villains. All throughout media this is almost always the case and is no different in the world of wrestling. Dramatic tales of underdog heroes fighting to unseat the diabolical heel champions or fend off weaselly opponents. However, a lesser seen feud is when two faces or two heels mix it up themselves. We see matches here and there, but I am looking for proper feuds or heels where neither are expected to turn by the end. Which is a lot trickier especially when two heels square up, but was sold enough on the idea of putting my fantasy booking hat back on and talking about one of the things I love the most. So, here they are. Four matches, two heel and two faces and how I think it could be booked to where there are no turns. Using AEW and WWE. Sorry, Impact I don’t get the channel and struggle to keep up and wouldn’t do anything from there justice. So without further adieu, lets dive right in with the match on the Thumbnail.

Abadon vs Kris Statlander (Face)

Alright, two things, I am stretching the idea of Abadon potentially being face or heel. Her character is certainly not a normal face, but when the crow is chanting, eat your soul, at Shida, You aren’t an outright heel either and more importantly, Kris Statlander is injured and could be out for a while to come, but that is okay. Gives us time to set the table in advance. So, here’s how it could work. Keep pushing Abadon. She is running her way through everyone on Dark. Just keep it up. Beating everyone she gets in the ring with. After some time of this. Makes it all the way to a title match with Shida and gets the strap. Getting her win back and setting herself on top of the castle and she just keeps going. Leading to a Dynamite where her opponent no shows a title match. Is found by an interviewer leaving. Wants nothing to do with the Living Dead Girl. Angering Abadon who catches up with her in the back and takes her out. Other women start to avoid the number one spot because of this. Until, Brandy, or Matt Hardy depending on how far out you want to go, we are booking a feud between a zombie and alien after all, have fun with it. Where she declares she found a challenger not from this planet who is not afraid of her and the return, when she is healed and ready, Kris Statlander, who should walk away victorious. At this point, Abadon has made a name for herself and a force to be reckoned within AEW and Statlander picks up as one of their top women. Plus, these two are so creative with their characters that I want to see the match they can come up with. Winner – Kris Statlander.

Drew McIntyre vs Keith Lee (Face)

Okay, do not turn Keith Lee. This was the rumor that started the conversation that birthed this idea, and it is a woefully bad idea. He is one of your biggest crowd favorites you got and it doesn’t need it. Both of these guys are overflowing with charisma and are more than capable of making this feud happen. How, just have Keith Lee win the Royal Rumble. Just have them being friends but making it known that is secondary when it comes to the title. Don’t have them outright attack each other, but bumping each other. Let their promos and interviews build the tension up until the final raw and everything blows up. have them Main Event Main Event Wrestlemania as it should and… Drew should win. I would love to see Keith win it, but it would be almost too predictable. He’ll get the win back at Summerslam after cashing in the Money In The Bank. Just don’t want the champ losing at Mania this time around. Winner – Drew McIntrye

The Miz vs Roman Reigns (Heel)

This was much harder to book. Wanted to put John Morrison in The Miz’s place, but couldn’t think of any way Morrison doesn’t flip back to face in the process. When the Miz gets the chance, he is the best heel on the mic going today and that is what is needed for this and want to see the promo work between him and Paul Heyman. That would just be wonderful. How I would do it, is have The Miz line himself up as number one contender after Jey. Roman fresh out of destroying his cousin. Have Miz and Morrison rag on him for everything from his time off and attaching himself to Heyman and needing to check in at the end of a match in order to win the belt. He’ll need to dig deep in the bag to keep heel and can even go right into the Morrison turn from there. Roman will retain after another savage beating and showing the locker room that no one is safe. Winner – Roman Reigns

Brodie Lee vs Chris Jericho (Heel)

This match has had to have changed a good number of times. From Omega to Hangman, but as a friend pointed out, neither are official changes yet so that brings us to Mr. Brodie Lee vs Le Champion. Two extremely talented wrestlers and heads of their own top groups going right now. How I would start the feud is to have one of The Dark Order give a sheet to Sammy Guevara. This would obviously anger Jericho who will not be taking the idea of The Dark Order poaching on his boys and have Jack Hager beat up some of the Dark Order lesser members and the feud is on. A full on Faction War between The Inner Circle and The Dark Order. Leading to the match between Jericho and Brodie down the line to settle the score. Winner should be Brodie at the end of the day, he could use the rub from beating someone like Jericho and he wouldn’t lose anything in the loss. Winner – Brodie Lee

And that is all I got. As always, I hope you enjoyed and…

AEW First Episode Review

By Paul Anthony

Well last night was the night that we all have been waiting for, well if you are a an wrestling fan. last night was the first episode of AEW’s flagship show Dynamite which ran from 8 pm to 10 pm and went head to head with WWE’s Nxt. How did the show live up to the hype? Well Let’s start with the crowd at the very beginning was insane, right off the bat you can tell that the wrestling world wanted another big time player. Sure we still have Ring Of Honor and Impact Wresting but those two promotions don’t have the funds or the TV deal or the crowds to compete with AEW and WWE.

As of right now I don’t think WWE has to worry about anything just yet, however if they keep this up then it is only a matter of time before a wrestling war begins. First let’s talk about the commentary which had Jim Ross and Tony Schiavone and former Wrestler Excalibur. Now Both Jim and Tony’s voices are stand out in the business however without having any big matches it was hard for them to deliver the great calls instead they couldn’t stress enough about how TNT has Wrestling for the first time in 20 years. Nonetheless I do think they will get better as stories go on from. Next having heels and baby faces come out different tunnels is very much an old school thing and I loved it. Now another great touch they added was having the wrestlers records shown which if they do something with the winners it help us see whose going for what title.

Production was a miss at times, the mics didn’t start working right off the bat and you missed a word or two. Not a big deal but something they could improve on going forward. Theme music now this sounds stupid to judge but it was on a low end of hearing it but that could have been from the crowd as well. The Matches well some of the matches did seem to be sniff at times and some botches did happen, yet this is normal for an live event and I think once these guys and women start to work with each other more and more the quality should improve. Promos now I get that they needed to have matches to wow the crowd but the lack of promos did someone hurt the show.

Hear me out, right now there are no true story lines just yet, which I guess for the moment you don’t need promos but it would have been nice to see how these guys work on the mic. Now I get it these men and women are experienced but the promos have to be good which is something I hope do next week

In the End I am giving this show a good B+ which isn’t bad for their first show. I can’t wait to see how they improve going forward and in the end I hope they stick to their system and not try and be another WWE because Impact tried that and failed.
