Samaritan Review

By Paul Anthony

You ever watch a hero movie without the actual hero? It would be a first that a superhero movie wouldn’t have a hero in it, and this is the first unless you count flashback scenes than never mine but if you do than we all can agree. The film stars Sylvester Stallone, Pilou Asbeck and Javon ‘Wanna” Walton. Now the movie started to film just when the pandemic started so it was on pause for 7 months until they could film again. It was delayed three times. First it was supposed to be released on November 20th, 2020, then December 11th, 2020, June 4th, 2021, and then it was finally released on August 26th, 2022. Now the question is having this movie not have a hero was it the right choice? Well let’s talk about the plot first.

The film starts with a voiceover filling us in on the back story. It us that there were two boys, twins that had rare powers and sometimes they would hurt people to no fault of their own and one day the town grew frustrated and try to burn their house down to kill them, but they survived but their parents had died. One boy wanted revenge and grew to become Nemesis, well the other one wanted to forgive the people and grew to save the people becoming Samaritan. The brothers grew to hate each and one day Nemesis set a trap to kill Samaritan, but the power plant blew up killing them both, though many believed that the Samaritan lived but was never seen again. 25 years has passed, and we meet a kid named Sam (Walton) who is a fan of Samaritan. But he lives in the poor section of town, where the crime has risen over the years and through a friend gets involved in with the wrong and when that crowd turns on him, he is saved by Joe (Stallone) Sam thinks he is the Samaritan though Joe denies it. But Sam also has the attention of a crime lord Cyrus (Asbeck) who wants to be Nemesis 2 and believes Joe is Samaritan, when all the roads lead to Joe and Cyrus fighting it out Joe reveals his true colors to save Sam and that is Samaritan did die but Nemesis lived and made a new life for himself as Joe. When Joe defeats everyone he tells Sam that he will do the right thing and when the news interviews Sam, he tells them that the Samaritan saved him to Joe’s delight.

How do you make an aging 80-year-old actor look good well adding him to the superhero business where CGI is god’s gift. Look Stallone did alright as old man who wants to be left alone. His ability in acting was good enough. The plot twist was alright at best, but they made one mistake by having Stallone by the characters, you knew he was one of them and preaching about the twins made it clearer. However, Heroes wouldn’t let the town get out of control with crime, so the twist was basically ruined. They could have had the twist executed just better. The rest of the stuff like the action and acting graphics seem to be just averaged to me. Though I don’t believe this movie was horrible and it seemed good but still felt like it was an average film that will get lost in the shuffle. In the end I am giving it a B because it felt like was an average film it still had enough to be above average.

AEW All Out Predictions

By: Justin Hopkins

They just had to add another match to an already stacked card. I can’t even complain that much, cause of course I will gladly take a Ruby Soho match. With that said, lets skip the small chat and jump right to it shall we.

Eddie Kingston vs Tomohiro Ishii

Oh what brutal fun this should be. A rematch that should be an excellent watch and that I believe that Eddie should get the win for.

Winner – Eddie Kingston

FTW Championship – Cool Hand Angelo Parker vs Hook (Champion)

This feud has been fantastic, but that isn’t really surprising due to who is involved. Hook aint losing and we still have the Daddy Magic fight to get to.

Winner and still FTW Champion – Hook

AEW All Atlantic Championship – Kip Sabian vs Pac (Champion)

This one is quite difficult to pick from. Pac could maintain. Still early in his reign, but I think it is more important that Kip gets the win here. Been waiting with a box on his head for around a year. This could be the first step in something much bigger for him.

Winner and new All Atlantic Championship – Kip Sabian

AAA World Mixed Tag Team Championship – Ruby Soho and Ortiz vs Tay Melo and Sammy Guevara (Champion)

Ruby and Ortiz… Serious, refuse to pick against Ruby.

Winner and new AAA Mixed Tag Team Champions Ruby Soho and Ortiz

House of Black vs Darby Allin, Sting, and Miro

Normally, would be a bad move to go against Sting, but Story wise, Miro can blame them for the loss and continue the story more if his team losses here and continue to build toward the single match against Black.

Winners – House of Black

Ricky Starks vs Powerhouse Hobbs

I can see a non finish happening here. A DQ or time limit draw. Something to build the heat and keep the feud going to a lights out match. For the sake of picking one of them though. Can see Powerhouse getting the win while Ricky putting in a valiant effort.

Winner – Powerhouse Hobbs

Christian vs Jungle Boy

Speaking of lights out potential. This feud had been devastatingly brutal with the war of the words between them. They got it set up perfectly for Luchasaurs to break bad and turn against Jungle Boy.

Winner – Christian

Wardlow and FTR vs Jay Lethal and Motor City Machine Guns

I am really excited for this match. I have always heard about how good Motor City Machine Guns are, but have never actually seen any of their matches before. With FTR on a run of a lifetime this year and Wardlow added to it and I am all here for it.

Winners – Wardlow and FTR

Bryan Danielson Vs Chris Jericho

This should be a fun match. All for the love of Daniel Garcia, but got to go with the American Dragon for the win.

Winner – Bryan Danielson

Casino Ladder Match – Claudio Castagnoli vs Rey Fenix vs Rush Vs Penta El Zero Miedo Dante Martin vs Andrade El Idolo vs Wheeler Yuta vs TBA

This is going to be carnage and I have no idea. None what so ever. TBA could be anyone from Darius to MJF and Eddie Kingston is right there. Perfect to set the main event at Grandslam and how can I pick against Claudio…Fuck it….

Winner – Eddie Kingston

TBS Women’s Championship – Athena vs Jade Cargill (Champion)

So, I am in two mindsets here. Athena poses as a serious threat to Jade’s undefeated streak. Could easily take that belt off Jade and gives Jade the lane to move up the the Women’s Championship. You could keep Jade undefeated, but since Tony is being a Jackass when it comes to giving women more time on the two shows to build more threats, who knows how long it will take to get another threat.

AEW Trios Titles – The Elite vs The Dark Order and Hangman Adam Page

You know what, I am going to take a risky pick here. The Dark Order deserves more love then they have been getting here, and you can tell the story that Kenny just couldn’t shake the ring rust and while I am going about this as if Adam Cole would be ready by Grandslam, it would be a great ammunition for him to use against Kenny to set up the match.

Winners- The Dark Order and Hangman Adam Page

Interim AEW Women’s Championship – Toni Storm vs Jaime Hayter vs Hikaru Shida vs Dr. Britt Baker

This match can teardown the show. Can make a case for any of these four to walk away with the belt. While Toni seems to be the favorite, going to go with Jaime. Think this could be huge for Jaime and can set up a massive feud between her and the Doctor for the gold and if she wins that. You got yourself an even bigger star.

Winner and new Women’s Champion – Jaime Hayter

AEW Championship Match – CM Punk vs Jon Mox (Champion)

Keep saying it and eventually going to be right, right? CM Punk heel turn, off the back of Cleveland booing him when he thought he had reinjured his foot. Only question is if he can pull off the impossible. Austin couldn’t pull off a heel turn in his hometown. Can CM Punk turn heel in Chicago. While still walking away with the belt.

Winner and new AEW Champion – CM Punk

As always, I hope you enjoyed and….

Thank You For Reading!!!!

Me Time Review

By Paul Anthony

What happens when you have the funniest man currently alive as a co-lead and the other co-lead can make any comedy star even funnier, then you should have a comedy movie to die for! Well, that would be the plan at least. That’s right today we are reviewing the comedy film that is streaming only on Netflix. The stars Kevin Hart and Mark Wahlberg, the cast also includes Regina Hall and a small role for Jimmy O. Yang, heck even Seal has a cameo role in this film. The film is about 1 hour and 41 minutes long. Now Let’s take a look at the plot.

The film opens when Sonny (Hart) and Huck (Wahlberg) are celebrating Huck’s 29th birthday by cliff diving though Sonny wants to back out because he is afraid but does it anyway when the force from the helicopter pushes him off the cliff. When then jump 15 years later and see Sonny has grown into a stay-at-home dad and living a predictable lifestyle. Huck keeps calling Sonny, but Sonny doesn’t pick up. We learn that Huck still lives the wild lifestyle, and we are approaching his 44th birthday. Things seemed to be going right though Sonny is bored, it’s his wife Maya (Hall) who convinces him that she needs more time with the kids that she barely knows anymore, and he needs some alone time, she even recommends that he joins Huck on his birthday celebration. The first few days that Sonny is alone he does enjoy the me time, heck at first the first thing he does is masturbates in his own bedroom though that was short lived. He finally agrees to join Huck’s birthday celebration and that where the fun begins. Right off the bat he sees a naked Huck, and Huck has ordered a big bus to take them into the middle of desert. The shenanigans begin. First with Sonny getting attacked by a Mountain lion then next we learn Huck’s lifestyle did catch up to him and he owes a loan shark 47k, which the loan shark breaks Sonny’s finger and burns down the camp that Huck made. On their way to Sonny’s house, they stop at Maya’s bosses house and run over his very old turtle, the party gets wild at Sonny’s house, and he even pays off Huck’s loan with the money he has been saving. Though he is happy at first this wild party weekend forces his wife to leave him, and Sonny goes a few weeks until he realizes he has to make things right which in the end he does. He and huck even opens their own business together.

Okay the plot sounds like this should be a blast of fun even if they didn’t have the star power that they had, right? Wrong, this was a big miss on their part. Hart’s humor fell flat, sure some jokes got a small giggle but that was about it. Wahlberg seemed like he was just in it because he was next to Hart which should have been a match made in heaven. The story was fine, and the slapstick comedy wasn’t over the top but maybe it should have been to be funnier. In the end I am giving this film a D for a rating. This was major let down for me and I do hope Hart and Wahlberg gets another chance to star in a film together for us to forget about this film.

The Black Phone Review

By Paul Anthony

I will always start a review on a Blumhouse production by saying yes, they produce a lot of horror films but at the same time these films can be a hit or a miss, so the question is The Black Phone a hit or miss? The film was made on a budget of about 18 million and as of the writing of this blog has made 157 million dollars which makes you seem like it is a hit, but we got a lot to talk about here. The film is based on the 2004 short story of the same name by Joe Hill. The film is led by Ethan Hawke. So, let’s take a look at the plot.

The film takes place in 1978, here we meet Finn and his younger sister Gwen. Finn plays baseball and life seems normal though we quickly learn that this little town north of Denver. The little town is dealing with a child murderer, well at this point it’s just a kidnapper because the bodies haven’t been found just yet. The Kidnapper is dubbed the Grabber by the town and kids that are close or have been around Finn start to disappear. One day the police interview Gwen because word got around that she said something regarding the cases that haven’t been made public which annoys her alcoholic father and punishes her by beating her because she tells him that her dreams come true, and these are visions. We quickly learn that Finn’s mother had these dreams as well and that’s why she committed suicide, and he doesn’t want that fate for his daughter. The worse thing happens, and Finn runs into the Grabber, and he becomes the next victim. The Grabber informs Finn once he awakes that he is in a soundproof basement so he can scream but no one will hear him and the black phone that’s been in the basement and hasn’t worked since he was a kid. Nothing happens over the next few days but then the phone rings and each time the phone rings it’s a voice from a past victim and gives him advice how to escape but reveal they never did because they ran out of time and its game to the grabber. The last call is his friend who teaches how to use the phone as a weapon. At the same time Gwen finally has her father approval to use her visions to help Finn and the cops finally agree to work with her and with her help they find a house though no one is home and cops can’t find any bodies until they find the basement where he buried the victims and at that point Finn is fighting the Grabber and gets the upper hand then break his neck and kills and only to escape. We learn that he was only across the street from where the victims were buried. Finn shortly returns to school and now has more confidence from him surviving the grabber.

Now, some of the things I like about this film was Hawke’s performance and how the film used him, he wasn’t in every scene, and he didn’t need to be. The film didn’t rely on jump scares to move the movie along. Instead, it told a story and when the grabber was on screen, he was a threat. The movie made good use out of a small buget, and the effects were on par. Now in the end I am giving this film a Hit and a great grade of a A rating and think if you are true horror fan then you’ll enjoy this film.

Thirteen Lives Review

By Paul Anthony

Ron Howard movies are some of the best movies I have ever seen, I knew once I saw that this film was directed by him that I just had to watch it and review it. Honestly, I am glad I did. Now Sadly I don’t remember much about this real-life situation that did happen in Thailand in the summer of 2018. The budget for the film was 55 million and the length of film was 2 hours and 23 minutes. The film starred Viggo Mortensen as Richard Stanton, Colin Farrell as John Volanthen, Joel Edgerton as Richard Harris and Tom Bateman as Chris Jewell. The film was filmed on location in Thailand which had to be cool for the actors to visit the country.

The film starts with the boys practicing football (Soccer in the United States) and everyone is reminded of a birthday that is set at 7 pm because it is one of the player’s birthday, which one player goes straight to the house to help set up everything up. The rest of the team, with the young assistant coach who agrees to take the remaining 12 kids to the Tham Luang Cave to go explore for a little fun. Things go as plan at first but then it begins to rain which through channels at the top of the cave it begins to flood the cave trapping the kids and the coach deep inside the cave. When the team don’t show up for the birthday party that is when the parents alert the police and soon realize they have a bad situation on their hands. As the Royal Thai Navy Seals arrive to dive in the cave to search for the boys, they realize they aren’t able to do it because though they are trained divers for the open sea, they aren’t trained to swim through caves and therefore unable to rescue the team. At this point the governor due to a tip calls upon John Volanthen who also calls his friend Richard Stanton which both are experts in cave diving and recue. They quickly arrive in Thailand and at first no one really wants them there. Nevertheless, they go in and after hours finds the boys who are all alive, they report back and show the proof that everyone is alive, but Richard realizes getting them out is near impossible, Thats when they bring in Richard Harris a doctor both Stanton and Harris know there is only one option to get them out and Harris doesn’t want to do it at first but then finally agrees, the plan is to treat the boys like a package basically tying them up and sedating them, which works but requires three days each day saving four at a time and not one life was lost and the divers and the volunteers who helped divert the rain water from the cave to prevent the cave from getting worse are hailed as heroes.

If you did follow this event on the news than of course you knew the ending but what you didn’t know is what the people had to go through to get them out and that is what kept, you hooked on this film and made you watch every minute of it. Howard did an amazing job at telling their stories and keeping you engaged in the film. This film didn’t have any big action scenes or monsters because it didn’t need to, the writing was on the wall. The actors did a good job at making you feel their pain and frustrations that they had to go through. You didn’t need a lot of character development because the story was the rescue itself. I believe this is another hit for Howard and I love it to be honest and, in the end, I am giving it an S for a grade this was the perfect film in my eyes

Predator Movie Rankings ( Including the 2 Alien vs Predators)

By: Justin Hopkins

It is so good to see my favorite franchise thriving at the moment. The human hunting alien is killing it over on Hulu, with Prey at the moment, and our review of said movie is over on our YouTube channel. Leaving only one thing left to do, and that is to rank them from worst to best. A tough challenge for someone who loves most of these films, but I am onboard for anything that lets me talk about Predator for a little while longer. So without further ado, lets dive in shall we.

7-The Predator

The bottom of the barrel, worst of the bunch. The only movie on this list that I have not gone back to re-watch since I saw it in theaters. The worst part is, there is a good movie in here somewhere. It had so much potential. The Fugitive Predator having to work with the humans to take down the Upgraded Predator. Cause the movie was at least tolerable till he died. The dialogue was terrible, they never caught on to the fact the jokes have to stop in movies like this, and the end was garbage.

6-Alien vs Predator: Requiem

While I can still find some enjoyment in this entry, still not that great. Wolfe, the lone Predator carries this movie on his back and I do like the Predalien we get here. Kelly was a really good character, who we really should have spent more time with over the dipstick brothers, especially, Ricky, seriously, they could have killed him. How are you going to make us suffer this character and not give us the satisfaction of his death. Also, having the final fight that we’ve been waiting the entire film for, end with the government bombing the town, is just cheap way to end it.

5-Predator 2

Don’t read to much into this placement. I love this movie. So much of Predator lore and weaponry comes from here. Loved going to the city setting after being in the jungle. The City Hunter himself was a different kind of hunter compared to the Jungle Hunter. Not showing Donald’s character honor in the way the previous one showed Arnold in the final fight and we got to look at the Trophy Room, which set the ball rolling for….

4-Alien vs Predator

Speak of undeserved hate. This movie was a blast. Yes, it probably should have been released as with an R-rating, but the story was great. Showing some backstory of the Predator’s history on Earth and how they use the Xenos as the ultimate prey. That the younger Predators must hunt to prove themselves as worthy Hunters. Each species got the chance to shine and we were introduced to Scar, who was so much fun to follow. Seeing the Predator working with a human for a change. A quality that has intrigued me so much. Would love to see them come back to this idea down the road.

3-Predators

This was so much fun. Seeing the game preserve planet. Giving us the Predator Dogs and the clans at war with one another. The characters of different backgrounds having to come together and figure out what is going on and how they could possibly overcome and escape. The Topher Grace swerve handled perfectly and made you feel even more sad for Nikolai sacrifice himself for him.

2-Prey

Amber Midthunder made me care bout Naru. I can’t remember the last time I went into one of these movies and did not cheer on the Predator. From start to finish, they built such a great world. The characters are well thought out. Casting was spot on. The effects and kills were great and would absolutely would love to see them revisit this world again. While it is sitting in second place, it is not here comfortably. This movie is going to age like a fine wine. Sure to earn the title of classic and may very well over take the top spot. Which of course,

1-Predator

Yeah, it is. I am going to keep this short, cause can only hurl praise on it so many times. It gave use a wonderful world and a marvelous Alien. Set a high bar and I love that we keep getting entries that try to match. For my money, all except one failed to be enjoyable and I’ll take all they dish out.

As always, I hope you enjoyed and….

Thank You For Reading!

The Princess Review

By Paul Anthony

Late last month, I heard about this film and went on vacation and nearly forgot about this film. It was on my radar because it starred Joey King, Though King is still young she has proven that she can act and has over 30 films to her name and has been nominated for a golden Globe and primetime Emmy for acting in the drama series The Act. The film also stars Dominic Cooper as the villain in this film. The film was released on july1st on HULU and was rated R and for good reason. Now this movie won’t confuse you if you miss a few seconds of it or not but for good measure let’s break down the plot.

The film is set in the medieval times and the princess (King) awakes but is handcuffed to her bed though she doesn’t fully remember what happen the night before, but she sees two men entering the room and she overhears them that they are preparing to rape her, which when they uncuff her, she basically begins to kick their ass and even as more men enter the room, she still wins the fight. At this point she does remember being ambushed the night before. At this point we meet Julius who seems to be the one that planned this sacking of the castle. We see the King and the queen and the younger princess Voilet, being controlled by Julius’s men. Still, we don’t fully know what is going on and why he is taking over the castle. Though we would learn through more flashbacks that The King doesn’t have an heir apparent to the throne because he has two daughters, and the princess knows how to fight because she was trained by his top advisor’s niece based on the approval of the queen who wants her daughter to prove to the king that she should be the heir as the oldest child. The King refuses to see this and wants her to wed Julius. well, the wedding is planned but she refuses to say I do which leaves Julius mad of course and that is why he sacked the castle and plans to force marry the princess to become king. However, the princess keeps working her down the castle with the help from her trainer Linh and slowly they keep getting the upper hand. But they do take their share of bruises as well. The princess now has her back against the wall when Julius tells her his plan but being a strong fighter, she reveals that if she is forced to marry him, he will have to worry about his life, so a one-on-one fight between them begins with the princess slowly winning and cutting off his head and the King realizing he was wrong about his daughter, not only does he knight her but names her the heir apparent, all ends well on a high note.

Now I knew Joey could act but I did enjoy seeing her become an action star in this film, sadly Joey’s performance and action scenes were the best part of this film. You really didn’t even have names for the king, the queen and King’s character the princess, they do show more effort to avoid their names rather than just giving them their names. Cooper’s character doesn’t stand out either he falls into that category of an evil being who is a wimp in the end. The story was weak at best and half the characters you could care less about. Heck even the king is two face he’s a peaceful king but doesn’t believe women should be a leader, which doesn’t make sense to me. In the end Joey can’t carry the film by herself, so in the end I am giving the film a D+ or 65 percent for the rating.

Spiderhead Review

By Paul Anthony

Short stories can be so hard to turn into movies, how can you take something that takes just a few minutes to read into a movie that is nearly one hour 47 minutes long? Sure, stuff has to be added to fill the gaps, but does that make for a good movie? Todau we are reviewing the film Spiderhead that was released on Netflix on June 17th which stars Chris Hemsworth, Miles Teller and Jurnee Smollett. The film was based on the short story written by George Saunders, which was released in 2010 in The New Yorker. Now going into this film, I never heard of these short stories, so it took me a moment to follow along to the point of the story. Now I know Netflix’s movies can be a hit or miss at times and both Chris and Miles are having a good year with Top Gun 2 and Thor: Love and Thunder. Let’s look in the plot like always first.

At first, I missed what Spiderhead actually was but quickly learned that it is a prison but a prison like no other. Here the prisoner’s roam the building freely and are here to help reducing their sentence. Now being here which was voluntary, they must take drugs that alter their emotions and their perception of their surroundings. The prison is controlled and ran by Steve Abnesti (Hemsworth) who seems like a very nice funny guy who is very understanding. Then we meet an inmate Jeff (Teller) who pretty much says yes to every drug hoping to make a difference from him drinking and driving and killing his best friend. Though we learn later that his best friend’s girlfriend was also in the car and sadly died as well. The first drug we see Jeff use is a love drug that makes him fall for another inmate though he doesn’t like her until the drug takes affect and they both have sex with each other, However Jeff has his eyes set on Lizzy another inmate at the prison which is played by Smollett. Lizzy claims that she is in there for armed robbery. Things start to turn for Jeff when Steve informs him the higher ups want him to pick between Lizzy and Heather to see who Gets the next drug which is called Darkenfloxx which Jeff doesn’t pick but it ends up being Heather and once the drug kicks in she sadly commits suicide and to jeff horror Steve blows it off as a failed experiment. Jeff starts digging around finds out the truth and that Steve has no higher-ups, it’s his company all long and a fight breaks out between them Steve reveals Lizzy’s true crime and that is she accidentally killed her nine-month-old child who she tells Jeff the whole truth, Steve also reveals that both Jeff and Lizzy have been free. Steve reveals also that his parents abandon him and hence why he’s inventing drugs for humans to do what they are told so crimes can go down. Soon the cops arrive to shut the place down, but Steve tries to escape but dies when he flies into a mountain and Jeff and Lizzy leave on the boat.

Okay let’s talk about the character development, I get it Jeff didn’t mean to commit his crime, but we don’t see enough of his back story to see what kind of person he truly was. Lizzy was the same thing; this was big thing to show us to feel sorry for her, but they didn’t do that. Sure, they made her feel sorrow and regret but not enough to feel sorry for her and want her to be a free person. Steve’s story could have been shown as well though, I did enjoy the idea of him being friendly despite his back story. Steve’s charm and Jeff’s reaction provides the laughs though I would have like it more if this was darker film because of the subjects that were in the film. The length was just fine, so was the pace. In the end I am giving this film a B or 80 percent. Though it was above average they could have done more.

Hustle Review

By Paul Anthony

I have to admit that I don’t watch many sports drama films and I have to admit at times I try to avoid anything with Adam Sandler in it. Because at times it seems like he keeps hanging on his style of comedy that people just grow up from, but he doesn’t grow from. But the trailers caught my attention for some odd reason, and I had to watch it. The film has a mix of real actors and NBA stars either playing themselves or playing characters. Besides starring Adam Sandler and Queen Latifah, the film also stars Ben Foster, Robert Duvall and Jaleel White. Now with the NBA players in this film you have Juancho Hernangomez as the lead Bo Cruz, Anthony Edwards as Kermit Wilts. The film was released on June 8th and was 117 minutes long and it was released on Netflix.

The plot of the film shows Sandler as Stanley Sugerman a scout for the 76ers who travels the road to scout out fresh talent for the 76ers but the road life takes a toll not only on him but his family as well, until finally he is promoted to assistant coach which will have him home more with his family, but owner dies, and the team is taken over his son who puts Stanley back on the road as a scout. There he sent back on the road to search for talent and when that fails another door opens and he meets Bo Cruz a young man who is a construction worker but hustles on the basketball court for extra money to help his mom and daughter live. Vincent denies Bo basically so it up to Stanely to get this kid over to America and Play ball. This dispute ends up costing Stanley his job, but he made a promise to Bo’s family, and he is determined to keep that promise though it takes a toll on him financially. Though he doesn’t tell Bo that. But Bo has competition in the draft and that comes from Kermit Wilts who is determined to prove he’s the number one overall pick and he wins the battles by getting under Bo’s skin after a number of public games it’s a private game that he gets the Upper hand and proves his skills. Its then reveals that Vincent is fire and his sister is taken over who Stanley has a great relationship with, and she rehires him as a coach and it’s revealed that Bo did make a team and that Team is Boston though Bo and Stanley remained close friends.

Wow let me start off by saying the story alone was a powering one which involves redemption and the power to thrive and overcome anything and everything that you face. This film did delver a good message and Adam Sandler now this is the Adam Sandler that I want to see more often in movies because he did in fact put on a great performance that will be remembered for years to come. I don’t know where in this this film ranks among the best sports films but I will say this and that is this film was a pretty damn good film. In the end I am saying this film was a good A or 90 percent for me and I will say that this was a must watch film.

Fire Island Review

By Paul Anthony

Today’s movie I would have to say has caught me off guard, because I swear this was a thriller but when I selected the movie and was reading about it, I thought to myself, what am I getting myself into! Nevertheless, the show must go on. Fire Island is a Romantic Comedy based on the 1813 novel Pride and Prejudice. Now I am say based on and that term is used loosely because this is a modern adaptation and on top of that, the names are changed and so are the genders of the characters and the sexuality of the characters as well, honestly this should just be an original idea. The Noah character is based on Elizabeth Bennet, Howie is based on Jane Bennet, Will is based on Fitzwilliam Darcy, Charlie is based Charles Bingley, Erin is based on Mrs. Bennet, Luke is based on Lydia Bennet, Keegan is based on Kitty Bennet, Max is based Mary Bennet, Cooper is based Caroline Bingley and Dex is based on George Wickham. Hopefully that helps you understand everything. This movie was released on HULU and stars Joel Kim Booster as Noah, Bowen Yang as Howie, Margaret Cho as Erin, and James Scully as Charlie. Now as the movie called Fire Island, which is a real place and is the famous gay village off the south shore Long Island. The film was 105 minutes long.

The movie revolves five friends doing their year weeklong vacation of having fun and living it up. Noah narrates their adventure and the lessons he learns from, but his main goal is to be a good wig man to his closest friend Howie. Things get kicked off in a hurry when they are having drinks and noticed a few other guys checking them out and one of them Charlie keeps his eye on Howie which Noah sees as well and gets them to talk. Boom next night they go to Charlie’s party and have fun there and Noah sparks and up and down relationship with Will but Than Dex enters the picture which complicates things to say the least, even though Will Warns him about Dex, Noah and his friends learn the hard way when Dex’s makes a sex tape with one of Noah’s friends, but Will helps Noah save the day and Howie and Charlie become a couple ending the vacation on a high note.

Now if you are looking for a family comedy, please don’t watch this film and if you are looking for a good laugh, please don’t watch this as well. Look I get the emotional points of the story with the rich and the poor. Now adding for of a modern touch is a great touch as well but that is where it ends with the positive words. The comedy fell way short and the typical stereotype of being gay became more annoying than funny and stretching this to 105 minutes made it even more to watch. Acting was below average at best and therefore this film was below average well for a rating. You guessed it, I am giving it a D for a rating and labeling it as please don’t waste your time type of movie
